DAILY FEED

Quote Of The Day

'You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great '

~ Zig Ziglar

As rightly said by Zig Ziglar, I feel like this quote very aptly fits for today, as we are starting our brand new blog from now onwards. This quote clearly tells us that one doesn’t have to be completely accomplished to begin something new. Whereas, one, by starting something new in life can lead a path that takes you to success.

Subhashita

यथा खर: चन्दनभारवाही भारस्य वेत्ता तु चंदनस्य
एवं शास्त्राणि बहुनि अधित्य अर्थेषु मूढाः खरवद्वहन्ति ।।

Explanation

We mostly seem to LEARN things without actually UNDERSTANDING them. In this case we do not gain the satisfaction of understanding the concept. Same is mentioned in the above Subhashita i.e., when a donkey carries a stack of Sandalwood on its back, it can only experience the burden of its weight and cannot enjoy the sweet smell of the sandalwood.

EUROPEAN SUPER LEAGUE - THE MAJOR CONTROVERSY IMODERN FOOTBALL

On Monday, 15th April, European football’s governing body, UEFA was set to announce reforms in the Champions League, Europe’s most prestigious club football competition. However, this important reform by UEFA was overshadowed by an implausible decision taken by top footballing Clubs. 12 Clubs which included “The Big Six” from England-Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and 3 footballing giants from Spain- FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, Atletico Madrid and 3 from Italy- Juventus FC, Inter Milan, AC Milan. These 12 Clubs have a combined 99 European titles. Like the Champions League, matches of the new competition will take place mid-week so Clubs can take part in their national leagues over the weekend. In a statement, the organizers said 20teams will play in the Super League: apart from the 15 founding members, five more clubs will be added ‘based on their achievements in the prior season’.

The League has received $6 billion in debt financing by JP Morgan and each club will be collectively given roughly $3.7 billion to spend on infrastructure. The founding members are likely to receive ‘100mn-350mn euros each to join the contest’ To put it simply, it’s for the money. Upon hearing this, there was an instant outburst among fans all over the world. The European Super League provides a way for big clubs to monopolize, assert dominance and build an ever-lasting legacy in modern football. However, this is not in the best interest of ‘The Beautiful Game’ as we call it. The League does not take into account the financial well-being of smaller football clubs. The European super league does not support the traditional football structure which has made football the world’s most widely followed sport for the past century. This novel format does not consist of divisions in leagues which does not allow promotion and relegation. The conventional system made possible for small clubs to rise along the ranks and challenge bigger clubs for supremacy. This in turn sufficed growth of football’s economy and supplemented growth in employment opportunities.

Riots and protests started outside stadiums of super league clubs. Proposals for a European Super League in association football were attempted since 1998 but were unsuccessful. However, the instant uprising among fans put an end to this within 48 hours. This epitomizes the power the twelfth man should have in any sport.

INDRAJIT: THE WARRIOR WHO WON OVER INDRA

Indrajit, or Meghnad, was the son of the fearsome Asura Emperor,
Lord Ravan.

According to a legend, when Mandodari, Ravan’s Chief Queen and first wife, gave birth to the baby, the baby, instead of crying, started to roar, as though there was a roar of thunder. Hence, Ravan, named his son, Meghnad, the one who roars like thunder. According to another legend, Ravan wished for a son so powerful, that even Lord Indra, the King of the Devas, would be defeated by him. Being a supreme astrologer himself, Ravan calculated the alignment of all the planets and constellations, for the desired effect.

Like most of the feared Asuras, the Prince of Lanka took his education in Rishi Shukracharya’s Ashram. He was the only warrior of his time, apart from Lord Vishnu’s sixth avatar, Lord Parshuram, to possess all the three weapons of the Hindu Holy trinity, the Brahmastra of Lord Brahma, the Vaishnavastra of Lord Vishnu, and the Pashupatastra of Lord Shiva. Along with these legendary weapons, he was also blessed with immense knowledge, which he procured from great teachers like Guru Shukracharya, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, to name a few.

In the Great War of Ramayana, Indrajit fought with great valour, and almost drove the Vaanar race to extinction. He’s also considered the only warrior to defeat Lord Rama and to nearly kill Lakshman in the War.

It is said that before every battle, Indrajit used to perform a Yagna, or sacrifices, to ensure his victory. It was during one of these Yagnas, when Lakshman, along with Hanuman killed the warrior who was the most powerful obstacle after Ravan himself in the way of Lord Ram’s reunion with Sita.

 MY COVID RECOVERY JOURNEY

This is probably the 10572nd article on a COVID recovery that you will be reading but trust me this one is a bit different.

The Coronavirus disease which had its first outbreak in Wuhan, China quickly made its way to India and has affected thousands of households with its ghastly impacts. The news today is filled with articles and information about the increasing number of COVID cases in the country. All of this has resulted in spreading increasing amounts of negativity, fear and tension among the citizens. I hope my honest journey of recovering through the disease will help you feel elevated and optimistic in these tough situations.

My Story is as follows-

I was tested positive for Covid on 16th April. I was shook. The virus, about which I was reading in the media for about a year, was now a resident in my own body. But still with the constant support of my family members I accepted the reality and instead of mourning, I immediately started the medications.

The next 8 days were a heck of a ride. The initial 2 days were a bit difficult as my energy levels were low and I was high on fever. But through these tough situations, my family members and friends were constantly providing me with mental support and were motivating me to remain as optimistic as possible. As a gross effect of the medicines, healthy food and my positive state of mind, on the 3rd day of quarantine I started feeling more energetic and my appetite improved. I realised that to fight the virus medications need to be supported by a good state of mind and a positive attitude. From that second onwards I started binging my favourite shows, began chatting and connecting with many of my friends, ate plenty of food even though I had lost my sense of taste, began reading eBooks, scrolling through Instagram reels and above all thoroughly started enjoying myself. As I started keeping myself positive and did the things that I love, my recovery took up pace. Within the next few days, my energy and taste were restored, my body temperature stabilised and came back to normal.

Today, I am absolutely fine and thoroughly grateful to all the doctors and to everyone who helped me throughout these trying times. This entire COVID journey was a huge roller coaster which for me at first was terrifying but then inspired me to stretch my physical, mental and emotional limits. This entire experience made me understand the meaning of always being positive and spreading positivity. I now believe that the impacts of the medicines for any disease will be enhanced if we remain mentally positive. Regular exercising and yoga also helped me to a great extent to recover. At the end, I am not a doctor or an expert who is skilled enough to give you advice but I am definitely a teenager who wants to share some learnings from my experience with you all to give you support and make you feel strong.

Finally, I would like to assure you that this phase of life too shall pass and everything will be alright, we just have to stay together, support each other and stay optimistic. Till then please follow all the rules, wear your masks, sanitize and stay at home.

CHELSEA GRAB CRUCIAL AWAY GOAL IN DRAW WITH REAL, MAN CITY COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT PSG, MAN UNITED THRASH ROMA, ARSENAL RUSTY

It was yet another week of thrill and excitement. The controversy hanging around the Super League kept all eyes glued to this week’s semi-final fixtures. The first Match night from UCL saw Chelsea taking on Real. Christian Pulisic gave a lead to Chelsea with an early goal which was equalised by Karim Benzema within the first 30mins. Chelsea failed to beat Real Madrid despite work ethic, guile and class. In the other game, both PSG and Man City went with full intent, with eyes on their first ever Champions League title. PSG were on the lead at half time with a goal from Marquinhos converted from an Angel di Maria corner. However, City restored parity with a cross which turned into a goal from De Bruyne and a winning freekick from Riyad Mahrez. Facing a calf-injury, doubts over presence of Kylian Mbappe in second leg is a huge concern for PSG. Manchester United completely blew away Roma showing intent and menace and to prove its status of being one of the best. Arsenal failed in Spain against Villareal with a lack lustre performance and some sceptical tactical changes from Mikel Arteta. They still managed to grab a crucial away goal from Nicolas Pepe.

KL RAHUL’S CLASS, HARPEET’S ALL ROUND BRILLIANCE PAVES THE WAY FOR PUNJAB’S WIN

Yesterday on 30th April 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced defeat against Punjab Kings at Motera (Narendra Modi) stadium, Gujarat. The toss was in the favor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and ‘Chase Specialist’ Kohli decided to bowl first. In the first innings, KL Rahul remained 91 not out and we got to see some glimpses of the Gayle Storm, who missed his half century by 4 runs. Wickets fell in quick succession thereafter, but a quickfire 25 from the young lad Harpreet Brar ensured Punjab of a challenging total. The Royal Challengers bowling was below par, they pitched in with wickets in the middle, but were unable to hold it tight towards the end. When the Royal Challengers came out to bat, they made a slow but safe start to the second innings. The 11th over delivered by Harpreet Brar proved to be a turning point for PBKS due to the back-to-back dismissals of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. Harpreet had already done half the job just when Ravi Bishnoi came in and almost sealed the victory for Punjab by taking 2 wickets. Kyle Jamieson and Harshal Patel tried to do their little bit at the end of the innings but it was too late by then. Harpreet Brar was awarded the ‘Man of The Match’ for taking 3 crucial wickets with a great average economy of 4.75 runs per over and also playing a crucial innings of 25 Not Out with the bat. The wonderful play from PBKS helped them convincingly beat RCB by 34 runs.
