Quote Of The Day

'Logic is invincible. But to combat logic, we need to use it.'

~ Pierre Boutroux

This quote tells us that, logic is too powerful to be defeated. But in order to defeat it we ourselves got to use the logic. From this, we understand that logic can only be defeated by logic. So it is necessary for us to act logically, in life.

Answer : Yellow 2

Explanation

While throwing a pair of dice there are 6 ways to have a sum of 7 [ (1,6)(2,5)(3,4)(4,3)(5,2)(1,6) ] which is greater than any other number. Hence it is most probable. Therefore one should build a house a Yellow 2 which is 7 spaces ahead of the Free Parking spot

TRAVELLING AS A MEANS OF EDUCATION

There is a widespread misconception that education is confined to the four walls of the classroom, that is imparted only through the medium of books and teachers and evaluated in terms of diplomas and degrees. Real education is an ongoing process in which the dry information received from books is transformed into living knowledge by making it practical and by visualising the process.

Nature is considered as the best teacher: capable of inculcating values of discipline, punctuality, cleanliness, unity, etc. It also teaches us to fulfil our basic needs.

Visiting historical places deepen our understanding of History taking us to the past, vividly reconstructing the life and culture of the people belonging to a particular period. Travelling makes our knowledge of Geography real. A person who has toured a region would return with an indelible impression about the climatic conditions and flora and fauna of the place.

Due to travelling we can get first-hand information about the people, their different customs, manners and ways of living -thereby broadening one's outlook.

Nature is the best teacher who teaches in the language of silence without any book or pen.

Travelling thus becomes a tool of education contributing to the all-round development of a person giving him exposure of all kinds to make him perfect with varied experiences.

NEWS ANXIETY: WHY DO I FEEL HELPLESS AFTER WATCHING THE NEWS?

Everywhere we go right now the devastation of the world follows right after due to the power of the internet. Through this interconnected network, we can view and understand the happenings around the world both good or bad. In this worsening pandemic, every day we hear many success stories but along with that the thousands of casualties never fail to ground us. So, in this never-ending cycle of news where the bad seems to be getting worse and the good few and far in between one cannot help but be hopeless and anxious.

So, what can we do during these uncertain times?

Seemingly the answer to everything these days: Moderation. The internet has brought the world closer making it possible for distribution of large amounts of news easier but as we progress into this era of “fast news” we have to remind ourselves to limit our news intake. The world never stops moving, the internet never stops for anyone. But we must have the willpower to stop ourselves from overconsuming news. There is no ethically correct answer to this but we do have to switch off the news at some point in order to maintain our sanity and there's nothing wrong in that! Sometimes we have to make these difficult choices in the sake of self-preservation.

Another great thing we can do is consume news from credible sources or make use of podcasts/ newsletters which give us concise and precise reliable information. By filtering all the non-credible sources, we can save time, prioritise what's important and also limit the consumption of the news.

Finally, we have to let go of our “ego” of always staying on top of the news and being the know-it-all. I get it. It's tempting to know everything, but at some point, we have to stop and question whether feeding our ego is worth being cursed with all the knowledge.

A/N: if you want to get started on a newsletter, I am including one below. (I have used it before. It is good!)

MY BADMINTON JOURNEY

Badminton was introduced to me by my father, when I was seven years old. When I first saw him play, I fell in love with the game and decided to pursue it professionally. I started playing badminton when I was eight years old.

Badminton has not only been a sport but also an emotion in the part of my life.  I started to play badminton tournaments when I was 10 years old and I still remember my first tournament because I had reached the semi-finals. It was like a dream come true. Then I just kept playing, and my goal was to bag the gold medal.

I changed several coaching centres and trained under several badminton trainers and I’m really grateful to them as they have a lion’s share in what I have achieved in all these years.

Even though I have been in several coaching centres, the centre which helped me a lot and changed my attitude towards the game was my recent Academy, NKBA.  I want to mention my torchbearer in the last four years who helped me a lot in developing my game, my mentor, Swapnil Oak.

I have won, many tournaments individually and from my school.  my recent win is when my school came third out of 180 schools in the Zilla Parishad tournament. My teammates helped a lot and I would like to mention their names which are Ruchir Prabhune, Anay Joshi, Kanad Phase and Dhruva Pansare. As it is a team sport too, I learned values such as teamwork.

I don’t have enough words to express what this game means to me, and now I have left my professional career because of academic reasons I feel that some part of me is still missing.

BAYERN MUNICH ARE GERMAN CHAMPIONS FOR THE 9TH TIME IN A ROW AS DORTMUND BEAT NEAREST CHALLENGERS LEIPZIG

Bayern Munich have won their ninth consecutive Bundesliga title thanks to RB Leipzig’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. This title was sealed as they arrived in the dressing room at the Allianz Arena to face against Gladbach. As a number of players saw the game in the north-west unfold, Bayern knew the title was theirs in the dressing room before the players even had a chance to get into their training kit. Not that Bayern needed any help to secure the title as they thrashed Gladbach 6-0 with a hat trick from Robert Lewandowski. Thanks to the hat trick, the polish striker is now just one goal short of Gerd Muller’s 49-year record of scoring 40 goals in a single Bundesliga season. Lewandowski has two more games to equal and potentially surpass this stupendous record set by one of the greatest at the club. Despite facing some injuries at key stages of the season, the Pole could go down in the history books adding to his already impressive tally of records and achievements.

ATLETICO MADRID STAY ON TOP AFTER DRAW WITH BARCELONA, REAL FAIL TO LIFT THEMSELVES UP TO FIRST PLACE

Atletico Madrid held onto it’s La Liga lead again, this time by earning a draw against Lionel Messi’s side. Luis Suarez returned to Barcelona for the first time since his departure last summer. Diego Simeone and his men would be frustrated as they walked with only a single point in a game where they were on top for the most part. Despite earning a draw, failing to beat Barcelona meant that the top spot was up for grabs for Real who took on Sevilla later. In that game, Eden Hazard’s stoppage time equalizer after a series of massive VAR controversy helped Real stay in the hunt for the title. Real condemned the referee and VAR after Sunday’s draw, which saw them lose the chance to grab the lead with three matches to go. All to play for in the last three games of the season as Real and Barcelona are 2 points behind table-toppers Atletico.

CHELSEA LENGTHENS CITY’S WAIT TO CLAIM PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE, CAN THEY DENY THEM AGAIN IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL?

Manchester City are just three points away from securing their third Premier League title in the last 4 seasons in what could be a treble winning season for the club. The Cityzens have already got the Carabao Cup under their belt, but they still have sights on the Premier League and the Champions League titles. Pep Guardiola’s side have been the frontrunners in the premier league for most of the season and it is only a matter of time before they are crowned Champions needing just one win from the next three matches. Despite this, the loss to Chelsea shows City that winning the Champions League final is long from being just a formality to complete the treble. After ending City’s hope of a quadruple by winning the FA Cup semi-final last month, Chelsea came from behind to beat City in their own yard thanks to stoppage time winner from Marcus Alonso after Ziyech’s equalizer in the second half. The question here for City is not about securing the title but key concerns over whether they can keep Chelsea at bay in the Champions League final. Aguero’s penalty miss and Rodri’s mistake which led up to the equalizer shows that despite having the class to win the final, City have to work on some areas to fend off Chelsea and lift their first ever Champions League title.
