Quote Of The Day
'Not all those who wander are lost '
~ J.R.R. Tolkien
J.R.R Tolkien, the
writer of the novel ‘Lord of the Rings’ used this quote in his poem ‘All that
is gold, does not glitter' to describe Aragorn, an important character of the
plot. He, through this quote has tried to tell us all that not all people who
like spending time travelling and wandering, don’t have their priorities
straight. We understand that people who wander, are not lost and can have a
goal or mission to achieve in life, which they eventually do by following it
with determination and perseverance.

Mi 11x
The all-new Mi 11X is a fine deal for a mid-ranged
smartphone. It has a whooping 120 Hz of refresh rate, meaning the display will
update a whole lot faster. Another to take notice of the display is that, it
has 1300 nits of peak brightness, meaning the display is much brighter. It
doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint scanner, and it has been given on the
side of the smartphone. The back of the smartphone attracts a lot of fingerprints,
and the stains remain imprinted, which doesn’t seem too good. The box contains
a smartphone case, USB cable, power adapter and a Type C to 3.5 mm converter.
It is available in the 6GB and 8GB variant. Quick specs include a 4520 mAh
battery, a triple rear camera setup (48 MP + 8MP + 5MP), a 20MP front camera,
6.67-inch screen and snapdragon 870 processor. All in all, it should be a
decent buy.

OUR WINGED NEIGHBOURS
Last year, we all have learnt to do everything from our homes; everything, right from corporate work to education, from family gatherings to physical exercise. But whatever is the situation, there are some things which can't be done from home; tourism, for instance. We can view the images of any place on the internet and can get an even better experience by using wonders of technology like Virtual Reality, but it is never the same as actually visiting the place. Another field which requires regular outings is wildlife observation and photography. Whenever we think of this field, the scene from some forest reserve or sanctuary forms in front of our eyes. But last year no one was able to step out to go into the laps of mother nature. It was in this period that we started to realise the amount of biodiversity present around us which we had hardly noticed prior to that.
Among all the creatures present around us, it is the four legged that we
normally notice. Our tiny neighbours with two legs and a pair of wings often go
unnoticed. We humans converted the natural forests into concrete forests, but
it is not only we who have learnt to live in this environment. Many birds have
adjusted with these new surroundings and have started living in close proximity
to human beings. Various bird species right from the tiny flowerpecker to the
large kite have adapted to the urban environs. They have also found urban
counterparts to their natural nesting sites. Among these birds, the bulbul
comes very close to human homes to build its own home. Sightings of bulbul
nests have been recorded at a variety of places from the window grill to right
into the chandelier in the living room. It is not only the nesting sites of the
birds that have undergone changes but also the nesting material and diet of
these creatures have changed to a certain extent. The nesting material now
includes everything from blades of grass to jute and plastic threads. We have
all seen crows feasting on pieces of chapati and bread which is not their
natural diet. This shows us how their diet has also undergone a change.
Among some of the birds seen in towns and cities some patterns of local
migration can also be observed. For example, according to my observations,
birds like the Green Bee Eater, the White Spotted Fantail and the Black Drongo
cannot be seen in the same part of the city throughout the year. At times, if
we are attentive enough, we might also get a glimpse of a special visitor like
the Asian Paradise Flycatcher right outside our windows. So, we must always be
on the lookout for the sightings of such rare visitors. For now,
Stay Home, Keep Observing, Keep Birding !!

PARASOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS AND THEIR INFLUENCE IN OUR LIVES
The world came to a standstill as the pandemic worsened its wrath on the world. A lot more people felt isolated and lonely due to this drastic change and the trend of para social relationships began to grow. Now what is a para social relationship? It is a pseudo social relationship between a celebrity and non-celebrity where the non- celebrity feels a personal connection to the celebrity while the celebrity is unaware of it. These para social relationships are nothing new;( for ex. a relationship between a sports fan and a sportsman or a fanboy and an actor is a form of para social relationship) but due to the technological advancements, the intensity of these relationships is increasing day by day.
ARE PARASOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS BAD?
This is kind of a grey area. On one hand these can easily transform into obsessive tendencies. The non-celebrity’s obsession can make them isolated and disassociate from reality and form a bubble of their own imagination which is harmful. But on the other hand, this one-sided relationship can be a coping mechanism which can protect the person from negative consequences so there is a lack of fear and anxiety from rejection.
SHOULD PEOPLE INDULGE IN THESE RELATIONSHIPS?
Para social relationships walk a fine line of either helping a person find their community, overcome their traumatic experiences and bring happiness to their life but can also be deceptive in a way to people who treat these as real relationships and isolate themselves from the real world.
At last, para social relationships are a form of comfort for many people and that's not a bad thing, but we need to limit these relationships in order to stay sane and grounded in this ever- widening virtual reality.
ARCHIE COMICS
Archie, Betty, Veronica and
Jughead, who doesn’t know these names. The names that ruled the comic World in
the 90’s and are still one of the most famous in the world of comics. Archie
Comics which was started as a small scale comedy strip turned out to be one of
the most successful comedy comics.
To brief its history, the company
began in 1939 as M.L.J. Magazines, Inc., which primarily published superhero
comics. The initial Archie characters were created in 1941 by publisher John L.
Goldwater and artist Bob Montana.
As it is rightly said, The secret
of getting ahead is getting started. That is exactly what happened. The comics
turned out to be a great success and even dating back to the late 90’s nearly
every teenager of the 21st century knows this comic.
The United States Postal Service
included Archie in a set of five 44-cent commemorative postage stamps on the
theme “Sunday Funnies”, issued July 16, 2010. The Archie stamp featured
Veronica, Archie, and Betty sharing a chocolate milkshake.
Just to mention the ongoing
series on this comic is known as Riverdale.
Growing up I fell in love with
comics. Especially comedy. So, of course, I have read a lot of Archie books and
been a fan.

MANCHESTER CITY REACH 700 GOALS UNDER GUARDIOLA, KAI HAVERTZ DOUBLE BOLSTERS CHELSEA’S HOPES OF TOP FOUR FINISH, LEICESTER HELD BY 10-MAN SOUTHAMPTON
Manchester City had a walk in the park against Crystal Palace, in the Selhurst Park Stadium. Sergio Aguero gave the breakthrough for City and Ferran Torres’ strike in the 2-0 win was the 700th goal City have scored under the management of Pep Guardiola. This stupendous milestone has been reached in just 288 matches- a whopping average of 2.4 goals per game! Manchester City’s win saw them move into 80 points, now needing just 2points from four games to seal the title. This will see them win a third title out of the last 4 seasons.
At the Stamford Bridge, Chelsea took an important step towards a top four finish with a win against relegation bound Fulham FC. Kai Havertz’s two calm and composed goals ensured victory for the Blues. Long gone are the days when they would concede silly goals. Chelsea’s transformation under Tuchel inside four months is indeed phenomenal and astounding. Now all eyes are on their second leg against Real which definitely will be a mammoth task. Chelsea are now just 2 points behind 3rd placed Leicester who failed to beat 10-man Southampton.

ALL ROUND PERFORMER POLLARD
HELPS MUMBAI CROSS THE LINE IN NAIL BITER CLASH
It was the clash of the two heavyweights of the Indian Premier league, the Mumbai Indians against the Chennai Super Kings, yesterday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly called as Feroz shah Kotla), Delhi. Mumbai winning the toss decided to field first as was expected from the side winning the toss. Batting first Chennai posted a huge total of 218, courtesy the 27 ball-72 not out by Ambati Rayudu. The super kings didn’t quite get a good start as they lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early, but quick fifties from Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis ensured that Chennai didn’t fall behind. Bumrah and Boult were expensive but took one wicket each while Pollard was the standout performer who took 2 wickets in 2 overs, at a mere economy rate of 6.00. Mumbai started their innings well with a good partnership between Skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock. Wickets fell in a heap in middle but Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard steadied the ship. Pollard was attacking from one end, while Krunal was going at his pace. After Krunal’s dismissal, a bunch of sixes from Hardik Pandya brought back the momentum to Mumbai. Finally, Pollard sealed the win for the Mumbai Indians when needing just 2 from the last 1 ball.
