Quote Of The Day

This quote indeed gives us an incredible message. We understand that being successful in life shouldn’t get habitual to us. That doesn’t keep us grounded. But we also get an idea that losses or failures should also not become habitual to us. This loses our self-confidence and we stop trying. The writer, has tried to tell us that we should keep trying, no matter, we face success or failures

ज्ञानं प्रधानं तु कर्महीनं कर्मप्रधानं तु बुद्धिहीनम् |
तस्माद्द्वयोरेव भवेत्सुसिद्धिर्न ह्येकपक्षो विहगः प्रयाति

Knowledge is useless without action. Action is useless without wisdom. Good results are obtained when wisdom and action go hand in hand. This is similar to a bird’s flight; both the wings are required for a stable flight.

Historical Significance of the Day

  • 1961, Alan B. Shepard became the first American to enter outer space. His tiny Mercury aircraft, Freedom 7 took off from Cape Canaveral atop a Red-stone rocket for a 15 minute Sun Orbital Flight.
  • 1988, Japanese television broadcasted the first transmission from the Mount Everest Summit.
  • 1821, Napoleon Bonaparte passed away today at the age of 51 years on the remote British island of St. Helena. He was in exile at that time.

T
HE LONGEST MATCH IN TENNIS HISTORY

The cliché of being a tennis player is to maintain one's own mental composure and consistency which determines the outcome of the game. A typical tennis match lasts for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Which means a player must have a calm mind, confidence, positive approach, grittiness, analyzing attitude, self-motivation and anger management maintained at a certain level for 2 to 2.5 hours straight. The minute this balance is hindered, the game collapses and the match is lost. Being a tennis player, I know the effort that goes behind all these factors just to win 1 match so just try to imagine that from your perspective. Maintaining this state of mind and body for 2 hours is quite difficult, however what will happen if a match lasts for 11 hours!!!!!
Yes, that is the duration of the longest match ever played in tennis history!!!!!  As crazy as it sounds, it is true. This match was played at the prestigious Championships Wimbledon in the year 2010, between two extremely headstrong players in tennis history: John Isner and Nicholas Mahut. This match lasted so long that the match slots allotted to them were insufficient and the match had to be played over a period of 3 days!! The match became a five setter on the first day and the last set was played for 2.5 days!! By the rules, the last set was competed for a long time and was finally won by John Isner at a score of 68-70. The 7 foot tall.
American commented that it was the most fruitful match up in his career and for the first time felt a little sorry for his opponent (Nicholas Mahut of France). The two players played 138 games in the last set itself. The match was so long that at a point, the digital scoreboard stopped working when the score was 47-47. Each payer served over 100 aces in the match  which is the longest figure in any tennis match in history. According to the stats, the players SPRINTED for about 35 kilometres throughout the match. This match is known as the “11 Hour Marathon Match in Tennis”. This is the level of perseverance of a human being and an astonishing feat in the field of sports globally: THE LONGEST MATCH IN TENNIS HISTORY.

ANXIETY: THE INVISIBLE FEAR

I am not a professional nor are my experiences universal. Please do your own research and seek out a medical professional. I have included some links below to get you started ;)

Heart hammering in my chest, hands shaking, the temperature rising in my body, stomach full of dread, the feeling of hundred eyes boring into my soul, observing my every move waiting for me to make a mistake…. That's what I felt most of the times when I answered a question in class. And yes as you probably would have guessed from the intro, I have anxiety.

Now, the reason why I'm writing this article is not because I am using anxiety as an excuse but I'm writing this to help other people like me feel validated knowing they are not all alone in this whole diabolical mayhem. Generally pop culture portrays anxious people as someone who constantly stutters, moves their hands and while those things might be true there are so many unnoticed things that anxiety does to a person that are written off as the person being weird or lazy. And due to these misconceptions people are quick to dismiss and invalidate their experiences.

Anxiety is defined as your body's natural response to stress. It's a feeling of fear or apprehension about what's to come. Essentially it's the fear of the unknown, while also simultaneously thinking about the times you messed up in the past which leaves you with little to no time for the present, for the things you actually have control over. Now, a big misconception about anxiety is that it's a person’s choice to be anxious, like they can just choose to be not anxious like a switch. But that's not actually true and if it were, why would the person consciously make their life difficult?

My anxiety usually manifests in my inability to communicate well, share my thoughts freely or just even while talking to a person that I am unfamiliar with, but I am working on those things. Anxiety can be your foe making things difficult in your life but if you accept, learn to live besides it and not against then it's usually not a big deal. If you have anxious people in your life please try to understand what's going on with them, do research about these topics and most importantly be kind and patient with them .

PERKS OF BEING A MARKETER

“Choose a job you love, and you don’t have to work for the rest of your life”

Master’s in Business Administration is one of the most sought after degrees and helps you to build your career in a correct way. Whether you have pursued science, humanities or commerce you have all the freedom to join the MBA program.

With the increasing competition most of the businesses want professional marketers who can promote their product in a better way and that is the reason why this degree has a special mention in today’s market.

However there are several types of marketers according to the need of the company.

Most highlighted ones are:-

  • Brand Manager- Brand promotion has become one of the most rewarding career choices. Recalling one name of out of 1000 that we hear every day is the magic of branding
  • Sales manager- It is a target oriented and rewarding career option to look after finishing your MBA in marketing. It is a highly paid white collar job in the market.
  • Digital marketing- digital marketing has become the demand of the day and without it no business can survive the high competitive market from managing the social media platforms to taking care of the traffic of the brand, such are the duties of a digital marketer.

Even though MBA is one of the most sought after degrees, success cannot be achieved unless and until we work hard for it.

MAHREZ BRACE PROPELS MAN CITY PAST PSG INTO FIRST EVER CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

Manchester City beat PSG 2-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate to reach the Champions League final for the first time. Riyad Mahrez put two past the exposed PSG defence to seal the win comfortably for the Cityzens. They had to make do with difficult conditions on Tuesday night as a hailstorm caused an icy pitch. But that still didn’t prevent the two sides to start with an attacking intent with menace. It resulted in PSG being awarded a penalty due to claims of handball against Zinchenko. However, it was reviewed and was quickly overturned. After giving City the win in the first leg, Mahrez took only 11 minutes to break the deadlock. He finished off City’s first big chance of the night putting the final touch on a move started by Zinchenko sprinting out of defence to latch onto Ederson’s perfect pass up field. The ball was cut back to De Bruyne, before making its way to Mahrez, who kept his cool and scored. The Paris born forward slotted the ball home 18 minutes into the second half at the end of a terrific move, as City punished PSG who were desperately trying to stay in the game. De Bruyne and Foden made quick passes before the young English prospect made a low cross that saw Mahrez through on goal at the other end.

Pep Guardiola and his men put a succession of heartbreaking European exits behind them and have reached their first ever champions league final. It’s not just City that had endured disappointments but also Pep Guardiola. The veteran Spanish coach, a Champions League Winner in 2009 and 2011 as coach of FC Barcelona has been waiting for a decade to return to the final.

Their opponents in the final will be decided tonight as Chelsea take on Real Madrid at the Stamford Bridge with the advancement to the final on the line for both teams. Even though there is parity in the semi final tie as it stands, Chelsea have the away goal edge meaning if it stands this way, Chelsea will go through to face off Man City in what could possibly be an all-English final.

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY

The Indian Premier League has been postponed for an indefinite period of time as some of the players are infected by Covid-19 despite their bio bubble. This may have shocked you and it's natural too, but we need to stay optimistic. We hope that the players, who are infected by the virus, get well soon and we can see all of them back on the field with the same spirit as it was before the IPL was suspended. The BCCI is considering the alternative plans that can be incorporated to continue the IPL 2021 or at least to ensure the safe return of the foreign players to their homes. In this decision the BCCI will be incurring heavy losses, but the safety of the players is the priority. So don’t let the postponing of the IPL affect you adversely and keep in mind, ‘Whatever happens, it happens for good.’
