Quote Of The Day
This is a brilliant quote that tells us importance about leadership qualities. Imagine, while on a
ship, if the wind speed or direction changes, a person who thinks with a pessimistic attitude
starts complaining about the wind, while the one that thinks with optimistic attitude expects it
to change. But the person having leadership qualities adjusts the sail. That is, a pessimist just
complaints about the situation, the optimist wishes for a positive change in the condition,
whereas the leader takes steps to make the situation better.

All things in this universe are
special and unique in many different ways. With whatever one is pleased that
becomes beautiful for that person. In this world, nothing is admirable or
grotesque by itself.

Joke Time
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He's not breathing and his eyes are glazed, so his friend calls 911. "My friend is dead! What should I do?" The operator replies, "Calm down, sir. I can help. First make sure that he's dead." There's a silence, then a loud bang. Back on the phone, the guy says, "OK, now what?"

Surprise Puzzle
You are playing Monopoly game with 3 of your friends and by chance all the players are on the "Free Parking" spot.(direction of play is towards right):
It is your turn and you own the yellow monopoly. There is no development on the yellow monopoly and you are planning to build some houses. You check your money and turns out you can only afford 1 house. Which is the best place to build the house: (from left to right) Yellow1, Yellow2 or Yellow3.
(if you are not aware of monopoly rules: On their turn, players roll 2 dice and move ahead by the number of spaces which are equal to the sum of the digits on the dice. Building a house gives a better rent so you should build it at a place where the players are more likely to come.)

THE PEOPLE’S SUCCESS YOU KNOW THE EFFORTS YOU DON’T…
Jim Carrey revealed to James
Lipton on “Inside the Actor’s Studio” that when he was 15, he had to drop out
of school to support his family. His father was an unemployed musician and as
the family went from “lower middle class to poor,” they eventually had to start
living in a van. Carrey didn’t let this stop him from achieving his dream of
becoming a comedian: He went from having his dad drive him to comedy clubs in
Toronto to starring in mega-blockbusters and being known as one of the best
comedic actors of an era.
Yes, one of the richest people
in the whole world couldn’t make any money at first. Gates’ first company,
Traf-O-Data (a device which could read traffic tapes and process the data), failed
miserably. When Gates and his partner, Paul Allen, tried to sell it, the
product wouldn’t even work. Gates and Allen didn’t let that stop them from
trying again though. Here’s how Allen explained how the failure helped them:
“Even though Traf-O-Data wasn’t a roaring success, it was seminal in preparing
us to make Microsoft’s first product a couple of years later.”
What Gates has achieved is just a result of his hard work and never give up attitude.

THE MIND PALACE
All of us have had to memorize dates, formulae or certain data for exams and presentations or even grocery lists! One of the tricks used for memorization is the 'method of loci', or the 'mind palace technique'.
The 2006 World Memory Champion Clemens Mayer used a mind palace to memorize 1040 random digits in half an hour. There are references to mind palaces in the series 'The Mentalist' and 'Sherlock’. Hannibal Lecter's mind palace was described in the novels by Thomas Harris.
We can use this technique to remember facts or increase our vocabulary, improve your memory or simply learn something during the lockdown. We can learn this technique with the following steps:
1. Pick a familiar place and visualize a specific pathway through it. The best place is your home.
2. Analyse and pick out distinctive features or the 'loci'(Latin for 'places') in this place; like the furniture or photos on the wall.
3. Imprint this place on your mind. Make sure that you can visualize the place and features properly.
4. Follow the pathway and associate some information or a word with each feature. You can link your desk to the title of a book. Imagine yourself sitting there and reading it. Try to make the links as unique and weird as possible
5. When you're done, go back to the start and imagine yourself walking along the pathway. AS you look at the features you can recall the information you linked with it.
Your mind palace is ready! Whenever needed, simply visualize and walk through it to retrieve whatever information you've stored. You can make multiple mind palaces related to different topics and visit them whenever you want.
THE VIRTUAL VICTORY
The pandemic turned the world upside
down. Yet, it has ignited the flame of Digitized Learning in India. Technology
has become an integral part in everyone’s life. Virtual meetings on Computers
formed the classrooms. Internet applications are now a vital source of
communication and thus, all of us commenced a new journey altogether.
Online learning is a massive change for
the education system. Despite the lack of full- fledged infrastructure,
connectivity issues and resource constraints, the teachers and students,
brimming with utmost curiosity and enthusiasm, are adapting pretty well with
the situation. In rural areas, NGOs are the connecting link. Supplementing to
the syllabus, relevant documentaries, Presentations, made it a worthwhile
productive activity. Many digital learning platforms beamed as rays of optimism
and enlightened many across the globe. They are providing innumerable courses,
for specific curriculum, competitive exams and linguistics. This digital
revolution fostered various start-ups in the education field and led to their
expansion, accelerating their accessibility across the world. This led to
convenience of learning from home, saving time and money. Conducting exams
through specialized portals became the sole option for evaluation and was well
received.
Online competitions like these
harnesses the potential of participants and enhance their skills.
As every coin has two sides, the same
applies to Digital Learning. It is resulting in increased screen time, strain
on eyes, and restricting physical movement. The screen time can be controlled
by, engaging in exercise, Yoga, Meditation and nurturing hobbies. Informal
online meetings with friends can help in developing their social connect.
Blogging, showcasing photography skills and art work support their interests.
Digital Learning is going to be the
sustainable method of education.
“Through digitalization, people
befriended their screen.
How boring yet beautiful this virtual
life has been"

PANDYA, BHUVNESHWAR
OVERLOOKED WHILE KULDEEP, SAINI DROPPED FROM 20-MAN SQUAD ANNOUNCED BY
BCCI.
BCCI announced a 20-man squad for the world test championship final,
and for the five tests that are scheduled to be played in England. While BCCI
has announced a potent squad, there seem to be some surprises regarding the
selection. Kuldeep Yadav, India’s star spinner was axed from the team due to
lack of form. Hardik Pandya, India’s prime white ball asset, has been overlooked
from the red-ball squad, as a doubt has been posed on the allrounder’s bowling
abilities due to injuries. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, hasn’t played a test since 2018,
and injuries always have been a part of his career. It seems the same is the
reason for his exclusion. Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari have
made a comeback in the squad following injuries from India tour of Australia.
Prithvi Shaw who has been in sublime form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and also
in the IPL was excluded from the squad too. The BCCI has also announced four
stand-by players in opener Abhimanyu Easwaran and pacers Prasidh Krishna, Avesh
Khan and Arzan Nagwaswalla. KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha also have been named
in the squad but will be included with subject to their fitness. The WTC final
will take place from June 18 in Southampton, followed by the tests against
England.
Squad: Virat Kohli (capt), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-capt), Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul (subject to fitness clearance), Wriddhiman Saha (wk; subject to fitness clearance).
