Quote Of The Day
Greatest endeavors of our life take time. Success can't be achieved overnight as it is a result of determination, persistence, hard work and endless effort. With every task we want to achieve, we must have patience. If we quit, it won't finish the task neither would it speed it up. Instead, we would just lose the consistency in doing it.

सदा लोकहिते युक्ता रत्नदीपा इवोत्तमा ॥
Explanation
Wise people do a task which is good for all, neither because they expect anything in return nor because they expect good results, but they try to complete the task because they know that the task has arisen in front of them to be done.

Earth
She is old, older than me
But still grand, grand as she can be
She is beautiful, in every way possible
And before her we still remain humble.
From the deadly mountains,
To the tides of the Dead sea
She is just stunning,
Wouldn’t you agree?
She does not belong to us humans,
She does not shine as she used to
And because of our pollution
We have turned her black and blue.
She has nobody to help her start a revolution
Those who want to can’t speak
With their mouths or beaks.
All they do is spread the word
“That haven’t you heard ?
She needs our help
And the humans are just absurd”.
Oh haven’t you heard?
She is mother Earth!
How she used to enjoy,
Filled with mirth.
And we humans believe
That we can move heaven and earth
Oh mother, what have we done?
You gave and give us everything
And yet we let you burn.
Dear mother Earth
Please enjoy,
Because everyday
You take our breath away

DOES INDIA’S SQUAD FOR SRI LANKA FILL
ALL THE INCOMPLETE SPOTS?
Last week BCCI announced the squad for
India’s white ball leg against Sri Lanka slated to be played in mid- July.
Though it is a 20- man squad with some net bowlers, the squad still looks a bit
incomplete. No doubt that this side can give some tough time to the best in
business, the selection could have been a bit better. As you have options available,
why not actually pick them. Some points which I feel seem to be missing from
the squad are:
Experience
Experience is the first thing that gets
picked by your eye when you look at the brand-new squad. Though India’s
senior-most players are busy preparing for the WTC final in England there is
some experience lingering around in the domestic circuit as well as in the IPL.
The most experienced people in that set-up are obviously Shikhar Dhawan,
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep
Yadav in terms of T20Is played. In case, India hasn’t totally decided to ignore
Dinesh Karthik, he could have been the finisher India are looking at in this
squad alongside Hardik Pandya. Nobody has yet forgotten his epic Nidahas Trophy
finish. He was in decent form in the IPL as well scoring when needed for KKR.
Jaydev Unadkat who has been consistently performing well in the domestic circuit,
was expected to make the cut but didn’t. Though Chetan Sakariya has been picked
as the left armer in the absence of T Natarajan, Unadkat’s would have brought some
more experience to the table.
Loss of balance
If Hardik Pandya doesn’t start bowling
before the T20I world cup, India is going to face serious team balance issues.
Though Shardul Thakur can both bowl and bat, his batting has not been much seen
at the T20 international level. In such a case, India should potentially start
investing in a seam- bowling all-rounder. Harshal Patel could have put his case
forth considering his great numbers. But one may argue that he played on pitches
that suited his bowling. But if he was selected, it would be great to see if he
really could have replicated it at the international level.

WORLD’S NO.1 RANKED TEAM BELGIUM KICKSTART EUROPEAN
CHAMPIONSHIPS CAMPAIGN WITH A 3-0
THRASHING OF RUSSIA
Belgium have kicked off
their bid to win the Euros with a convincing win over Russia in St. Petersburg.
Romelu Lukaku scored a brace as the Belgians thoroughly dominated the game. Despite
the absence of their key playmaker Kevin de Bruyne, Belgium hardly had to break
a sweat against a Russian side which lacked intent and composure. The Red
Devils are now unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions and have scored in each
of their last 31 games.
Lukaku scored Belgium’s
first when he pounced from a mistake from Russian defender Semyonov to score
from close. Lukaku ran to the cameras and took this as an opportunity to pay
tribute to his Inter Milan teammate Christian Eriksen who had suffered from
cardiac arrest just 2 hours before. “ Chris, Chris, I love you.” The Danish captain
is now stable and recovering from the horrendous incident. Another mistake from
the Russian keeper proved costly for the Russians as Meunier doubled Belgium’s
lead, after which Russia were not able to get back into the game. Lukaku sealed
the deal at the closing stages where he converted from a defence splitting
pass.
The Belgians will now
travel to Copenhagen to face Denmark on Thursday.
THREE LIONS GRAB THREE POINTS FROM CROATIA
England have opened
their Euro campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over 2018 World cup finalists
Croatia in London. Gareth Southgate’s men managed to come out on top in a game
which was very much evenly balanced. Phil Foden & Kalvin Philipps had a
remarkable performance in their Euro debuts, and were filling in for the
England captain Harry Kane who failed to impress by his standards. However,
Sterling handed the English the victory when he slotted the ball past Croatia’s
goalkeeper which proved to be the winning difference. The game also saw Dortmund
prodigy Jude Bellingham become the youngest player to appear in a Euros match
at the tender age of 17 years 349 days.
England next face
Scotland on 19th June at the Wembley in London.
NETHERLANDS MAKE STELLAR RETURN IN FIRST MAJOR
TOURNAMENT IN SEVEN YEARS WITH A 3-2 VICTORY OVER UKRAINE
The Dutch and the
Ukraine faced off in one of the best matches in the Euro 2020 with the Dutch
coming out on top in the thriller. The Oranje were playing in their first major
tournament in the last seven years and they managed to put up quite a
performance.
The Dutch captain
Georginio Wijnaldum broke the deadlock in the 52nd in a game where 5
goals were scored in the latter half. Wout Weghorst doubled their lead just 6
minutes after the first. The Dutch were well on their way but it took some apt
skill and a little bit of magic from Andriy Yarmolenko as he beautifully curled
the ball into the back of the net past the helpless Dutch keeper. The Ukranians
restored parity soon after Yarmolenko’s stunner with a header from Yaremchuck.
The game had another
twist when Denzel Dumfries headed home from a cross just 5 minutes before the 90th
minute. This sealed he deal for the Dutch who have proven themselves as
contenders for the Euros while also managing a great return to a major
competition. The Dutch next face Austria at the Johan Cruyff Arena at Friday.
