YOGA: THE ORIGIN
Yoga is a group of physical, mental and spiritual
practices or disciplines which are believed to have originated in ancient India
about 5,000 years ago. According to Hindu philosophy, it is considered to be
one of the six Darśhanas, or schools of orthodox Indian philosophy.
Yoga is divided into four sub-branches namely: -
1. Karma Yoga- Action-based yoga
2. Kriya Yoga- Work-based Yoga
3. Bhakti Yoga- Devotion-based Yoga
4. Jnana Yoga- Knowledge-based Yoga
Yoga, in the modern world, is
considered to be a practice, which includes mantra-chanting, postures, and
breathing exercises, for relieving stress, and depression.
It is believed that yoga was one of the
blessings of Lord Shiva, to mankind. It is believed that Lord Shiva, once while
performing yoga, was visited upon by the Great Sage Patanjali, and thereupon,
asked the Lord, the sacred art which was being performed by him. This is how
the great knowledge of this spiritual art was bestowed upon us. The ancient
scriptures speak of Yoga as a part of Rig Veda; the hymn book, the Yajurveda;
the book of rituals or Yajnas, the Ayurveda; the medicinal Bible, and also a
part of Mahabharata; the fifth Veda.
All in all, this is a sacred stream of knowledge,
which, by far, has not yet been forgotten.

The Tree of Lights
Simply fantasizing,
A picture so bright.
Radiating a pleasing sight.
It's the Tree of Lights.
Filled with small emitters,
Sourcing the spread of brightness.
Showing the path lying ahead.
The road obscuring the darkness.
It's the tree,
Implying the act of giving.
'Enlightening' this life of ours.
Simply fostered our living.

HOW YOGA INFLUENCES YOUR PERSONALITY:
I know how you have always listened to
how exercise lifts your mood and how meditation calms you down, so today I’m
here to just put forth the concept that yoga is a hybrid between
workout(cardio/heavy) and meditation. (Most probably you thought of it before,
but did not talk about it :) )
So here are some ways this “hybrid
yoga” 🤣 actually influences your emotions, the way you
never deliberately noticed.
Subconsciously, it makes you respond to
things instead of “reacting to things”. So maybe try appreciating it more, on a
personal level, not only on events-campaigns kind of way. So these are ways it
is beneficial for you, now that talking about emotional well-being:
~ you start being considerate
~ you stop being petty
~ you genuinely rethink the way you react
to other people’s choices and opinions
~ you start being grateful for what you
have
~ thus, making happier in general
~ you actually are able to control when
and how much you get angry
~ you can think of ways you can lift
your own mood
~ you start handling arguments in a
more matured way
~ you don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed
to apologize
~ you are able to control your mental
focus
~ in general, you are more aware of all
the things around you, and going inside you
~ you gain confidence about yourself
So, next time when you try putting off
doing yoga, think about how it’ll benefit, how it’ll benefit the future you- be
selfish here. Think about how you will take control of life and of your
emotional well-being. This is simple and you can definitely do this for
yourself!

EURO 2020 GROUP STAGE: AS IT HAPPENED
Group A
Group A saw giants
Italy’s stellar return to a major tournament after missing out on World Cup
2018. The Italians ravaged the group as they topped the group with 9 points out
of 3 games with a Goal difference of 7, averaging 2.33 goals/per game. The
Italians have made quite a statement by doing so, and are major contenders for
the Euro trophy. Wales managed to finish second above third placed Switzerland and
qualified thanks to their superior goal difference. Switzerland too were able
to get through to the knockout stages being one of the third placed teams with
the most points.
ROUNDOF16 TIES
Italy vs Austria
Wales vs Denmark
Switzerland vs France
Group B

Group B was a group
full of action, thrill and emotions. World’s no1 ranked team, Belgium finished
at the top with 9 points, above second placed Denmark. Denmark inspired by
their star playmaker Christian Eriksen’s steady recovery propelled themselves
through to the round of 16 at the last day. It was a marginal difference, as Finland,
Russia & Denmark all ended with 3 points in hand.
ROUNDOF16 TIES
Belgium vs Portugal
Denmark vs Wales
Group C
Group A had Netherlands
returning to a major tournament for the first time in seven years. Their return
was worth the wait as they finished first in the group with 9 points, winning
all games on the way. Austria &
Ukraine were level heading into the final group stage match, which then saw
Austria clinch 2nd place. Nevertheless, Ukraine managed to get
through with 3 points, sitting third, thanks to superior goal difference.

Republic
Austria vs Italy
Ukraine vs Sweden
Group D
Group D was topped by
England. The English managed to win two crucial matches against Croatia &
Czech Republic and managed to end at the top of the group. Their performances
were rather criticized as they failed to take control of the game and prove
themselves worthy contenders. 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia finished above
third placed Czechs. The three have qualified for the knockout stages, at the
cost of rock bottom Scotland.
ROUNDOF16 TIES:
England vs Germany
Croatia vs Spain
Czech Republic vs
Netherlands
Group E
This group featured Spain,
Sweden, Poland & Slovakia. Sweden managed to come out on top at the group
followed by second placed Spain. It was heartbreak for third placed Slovakia as
they failed to qualify despite clinching third spot. Poland played well led by Robert
Lewandowski, however finished bottom due to narrow defeats.
ROUNDOF16 TIES:
Sweden vs Ukraine
Spain vs Croatia
Group F
Last but not the least,
it is Group F, known as Group of Death. Featuring heavyweights Germany, France
& Portugal, this group did not fail to impress and live up to its
expectations. The final matchday saw nail biting action as goals came flooding
in both games. It came to an extent
where Portugal were seen top of Group at one point while bottom at another time
at the same night. In the end, all 4 teams received one point each in the final
matchday. This saw France top the group with 5 points followed by Germany &
Portugal on 4 points. All 3 of the heavyweights are through to the knockouts while
Hungary’s mammoth attempt amounted to nothing as they finished bottom.
