Quote Of The Day

Motivation is a boost, a jump-start to start something exciting. But there will be times in our life where we will have absolutely no motivation towards what we are doing. And that is when discipline will help you rise. Your discipline will make you pursue your dream relentlessly even in absense of motivation. Discipline helps you achieve your target

A goldsmith can create a lotus out of gold but only a natural flower will have the heavenly fragrance along with beauty. This is to say that how much ever we try, man can never overwhelm nature

 RYANAIR FLIGHT 4978

Ryanair Flight 4978 had taken off from Athens, Greece and in almost 3 hours it was scheduled to land in Vilnius, Lithuania. But on the fateful Sunday of May 23rd the flight did not reach Lithuania on time. The flight had begun its descent. The plane was just 72km from the Airport when the plane made a sharp turn and was diverted to the Minsk airport in belarus. Ryanair's statement suggests “ The Belarus authorities said that there was a security threat”. There were also reports stating the pilots were informed of a bomb threat aboard. The pilot announced the passengers of the diversion. There was confusion, horror and just disbelief. But there was a man who looked like he was formulating a plan. His name was Roman Protasevich.

Who is Roman Protasevich?

For this we have to travel back to 2019. The authoritarian Belarus President Lukashenko had won the election again though by unjust means. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets to express their disagreement with the president and his immoral means of staying in power .These protests were organised through an app called Telegram and the main organiser of these protests was a young adult in his mid-twenties called Roman Protasevich. Roman is a Belarusian activist who opposes the current Belarus presidency and its dictatorship. He hasn't been to his home country since 2019 as he was on the belarusian list of “individuals involved in terrorist activity” for his anti-government protests.

Now in the present day, the Boeing 737 was being escorted by a Military fighter jet and it landed in Minsk, Belarus. Protasevich and his girlfriend, Sofia Sapega were arrested by the government authorities. According to a flight passenger, Protasevich independently said to the passenger, “the death penalty awaits me here”. According to some reports, Belarusian KGB was also seen at the airport to escort Protasevich. The other passengers were also thoroughly screened by the airport security and the plane departed to its original destination - Lithuania late evening.

What happens next?

After this incident, many european governments restricted the Belarusian airlines to fly over their country and also declared Belarus airspace as a no fly zone for their respective country’s airlines. On 25th May the EU announced the air ban would be enacted by all european countries and that they are further looking over economic sanctions to target Lukashenko’s Government. Many multinational organisations like NATO, EU and ICAO have called for international legal action and investigations. As for Protasevich, a short 30 second video of him was released confirming that he is still alive but nothing more can be known of his state or whereabouts. Some have speculated of the government going forward with his death penalty but no information has been released. Many officials have called this incident “unacceptable” or “ a state sponsored high- jacking” .

What does this mean for common people like us?

Truthfully this all feels like it has come out of a spy thriller or some kind of fiction. The fact that Belarus wasn't even the place of origin or the destination of the flight, just a mid-flight air space and they still could pull this off is really concerning. This speaks volumes about the vulnerability of the aviation structure and how a simple disagreement can topple the whole international cooperation. To be honest it's just hard to believe that this actually can happen when all these measures and protocols were in place. This incident also raises some alarming questions of how far certain governments can stretch the international limits of peace and cooperation for personal political gain and just blatant dictatorship. In the end, I don't know what will happen to Protasevich or Sofia, but I hope they are healthy and alive and they get out of this situation of international frenzy.

TREATING OTHERS BETTER

This is maybe something that will rock you to your core, you may feel attacked, but I’m sorry, we all need to know this, even if it makes us feel bad about ourselves for some time.

So, there was definitely a period of time in all of our lives, where we have been unnecessarily rude, selfish and petty to people who didn’t deserve it…to feel good about ourselves, to feel like we are in a position of power. Here, I’ll admit clear cut, I have been in both of the positions in this situation, and it never felt good in either, in the true sense. So right this moment, we all should

~ stop lying to yourselves and admit where you have emotionally abused people just because of your social status.

~ apologize to each of the people you knowingly yet secretly hurt.

~ Stop pretending you’re the bigger person, when even you clearly know you are not.

~ Think about the way you behaved, and what would happen if you faced “your own behaviour”.

~ Be good to strangers, your ‘have a nice day’ could make their day.

~ Volunteer to deliberately make people around you happy.

~ Have a safe space or trusted person to vent your feelings and emotions to.

~ Generally (forcefully) first think about the good in people, before judging them on their flaws.

~ Think that: if you can’t openly compliment a person, you don’t have the right to call them names or make them feel bad about themselves.

This is a tough crowd. These are difficult times. Remember, we all are here to be better versions of our past. This is our duty, to make this world a brighter, happier place.

Let’s stop this fake-adoration-used-as-mask, passive aggressive hatred together.

(This is a personal opinion, no rule book, but I guess you would agree with me.)

ONE CUP OF CHAI!

Long brownish leaves in the brew.

Looking fresh enough to commence a day new.

Aroma making its way everywhere.

Someone's making My Chai there!

Beverage in orangish hue.

Every sip rejuvenating your soul.

The spices adding 'spice' to your stressy schedule.

Making you relax as a whole.

A poem on tea?!

Yes, it definitely can be!

Light showers, chilly breezes and a cup of tea.

That's all you need!

CRICKET

ENGLAND VS NEW ZEALAND: CONWAY’S MAIDEN TEST CENTURY GAINS NEW ZEALAND THE UPPER HAND ON DAY 1.

The first test of the England vs New Zealand test series has started with a bang. Devon Conway playing in his very first game struck a beautiful century, complemented by the steady innings of Henry Nicholls. Early on Day 1, New Zealand won the toss and skipper Kane Williamson elected to bat first and the decision has till now turned out to be a profit. The Kiwi opening duo of Devon Conway and Tom Latham, gave the best possible start to their side considering the conditions and the quality of swing bowling in the opposition. Standing strong against Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad at the Lord’s is not at all a simple job. After getting a fine start, Tom Latham was soon dismissed by Ollie Robinson. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor got their initial thrust, but couldn’t convert it into big ones. After the dismissals of Williamson and Taylor, the momentum was back to the hosts, but then Henry Nicholls stitched a brilliant 132 run partnership with Devon Conway. Nicholls played the game at a considerably slower pace than Conway, but that was never a problem. The last session was fully dominated by the Kiwis. Nicholls played a brilliant stabilizing innings of 46 from 149 balls while Conway continued his game and ended the day with 136 of 240 balls. The English bowlers tried very hard to get some wickets but in vain. Though New Zealand have dominated on Day 1, the hosts would like to take quick wickets early today and start their batting innings by lunch. On the other hand, New Zealand would look towards a massive total with all the batting of BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner and Kyle Jamieson yet to come.
