Quote Of The Day

In order to achieve perfection, there are numerous hurdles or limitations weakening us. But we must learn to respect and embrace all those obstacles that will eventually make us strong. Ultimately, drive us nearer to perfection.

खलः सर्षपमात्राणि परछिद्राणि पश्यति । आत्मनो बिल्वमात्राणि पश्यन्नपि न पश्यति ॥

Explanation

A person who points out flaws in others even if they are small, while neglecting one’s own shortcomings is a fool. A wise person should always work on one’s own flaws instead of pointing out defects in others.

THE MAJESTIC MORNING

The Sun rose,

Awaking the sleep.

Ponders my mind,

As the good thoughts peep.

Elatic ecstasy,

Lingering smile on the face.

Envy to forgive,

Happiness to embrace.

Flowery trees and bushes,

Giving the essence of life.

Blossomed to give,

Encouraging us to thrive.

As the day dawned,

Life seems to be happening.

As I woke up,

This Majestic Morning.

BASTILLE DAY, FRANCE (14TH JULY)

Bastille Day is a day of celebrations of French culture. Many large-scale public events are held, including a military parade in Paris, as well as communal meals, dances, parties and fireworks. There is a large military parade in Paris in the morning of July 14. Service men and women from various units, including cadets from military schools, the French Navy and the French Foreign Legion, participate in the parade. The parade ends with the Paris Fire Brigade. Military aircraft fly over the parade route during the parade. The French president opens the parade and reviews the troops and thousands of people line the route. Other people spend the day quietly and eat a celebratory meal or picnic with family and close friends.

The Bastille is a medieval fortress and prison in Paris. Many people in France associated it with the harsh rule of the Bourbon monarchy in the late 1700s. On July 14, 1789, troops stormed the Bastille. This was a pivotal event at the beginning of the French Revolution. Fête de la Fédération was held on July 14, 1790. This was a way to celebrate the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in France.

Official celebrations were held in Paris on June 30, 1878, to honor the Republic of France. On July 14, 1879, more official celebrations were held. These included a military review in Longchamp near Paris and celebrations all over the country. A politician named Benjamin Raspail proposed that July 14 should become a holiday in France in 1880. The law was enacted on July 6, 1880. Bastille Day was a public holiday for the first time on July 14, 1880.

The military parade in Paris has been held every year since 1880, except during World War II. The Free French Forces paraded on this date in London, England from 1940 until 1944. Jean Michel Jarre held a concert in Paris that attracted one million people, then the largest recorded crowd at an outdoor concert, in 1979. Special celebrations were held for the 200th anniversary of the French revolution in 1989. The French football team became world champions on July 12, 1998. This sparked celebrations throughout France on Bastille Day.

Bastille Day celebrations are held in French communities and the Institut de France around the world. Such events in the United States are held in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle. There are festivals of French culture in Franschhoek, South Africa, and Hungary. The Eiffel Tower in Paris and the French national flag, or tricolor, are important symbols of Bastille Day. The French national flag is one-and-a-half times as wide as it is tall. It consists of three vertical bands of equal width colored blue, white and red. The same colors are displayed in bunting and banners of many shapes on Bastille Day. People may also wear clothing or face paint in these colors.

SIMPLE STEPS TO REDUCE EMOTIONAL INSTABILITY

The pandemic has definitely taken a toll on our mental health and our emotional stability. It is nothing to be ashamed about, instead it would genuinely help if we open up and accept it, as it would guide us towards helping ourselves. This has happened to me too… we don’t feel like ourselves, we are not able to work properly, we are unnecessarily upset, and many such things.

So, here are small, simple tips to implement on your own, to get rid of your emotional instability:

(This is not professional medical advice, just simple tips from personal experience)

1) Try to wake up early.

2) Get some sunshine.

3) Try to get your body moving. Do some yoga, take a walk, workout maybe.

4) Pay attention to the food you consume. Try get some raw vegetables and fruits into your diet.

5) Get your sleep schedule straight.

6) Talk to your loved ones, your friends and family about how you actually feel, and if you need any kind of help from them.

7) When you don’t feel like working, just sit and start working for 5 minutes with your full concentration, if after that, you still don’t feel like doing it, let go. But most probably you’ll get into your zone :)

8) Don’t use your energy equally, mediocre style, … for all your mundane tasks and chores. Work in bursts of energy. Take up a small task, let go only after you complete it.

9) Pay attention to your hobbies.

10) Make a list of things you are grateful for.

11) Write down things that genuinely matter to you. Let the rest go.

12) Stop looking at what others are doing, this way, guaranteed, you don’t compare yourself to anyone out there.

And remember - take care of yourself. You are important. Your smile brightens up this world a little bit more :)

You are doing great! See how far you’ve come.

You are worth it all!

EURO 2020 FINAL PREVIEW, KEY STATS AND NEWS

The Euro 2020 Final is set to be kicked off to a start on Sunday night. Two footballing Giants are facing off in a quest to restore their past national glory in football. It is Italy vs England in the final of the Euro 2020, and this final showpiece to be held at the Wembley in London is special for numerous reasons. Euro 2020, was a unique sporting spectacle, for the winners of the 2020 editions will be crowned in 2021. It was for the first time that the European Championships were to be played in more than two host nations, matches were staged across 11 cities from 11 nations.

The match is going to be of huge importance for both nations, as it comes at a time after a series of defeats and painful exits from various competitions. For England, it will be their maiden appearance in a Euro final and their first final in a major tournament since 1966 when the world cup came home. This has been the longest gap between major finals for any European nation. Italy are one of the most successful nation in world football, having won the World Cup for 4 times, and the European Championship in 1968. However, they are yet to get their hands on the trophy for over 50 years despite reaching the finals in 2000 & 2012. This final will be Italy’s 10th major final, with only Germany having played more (14) among European nations.

But recent record for both nations have been rather lackluster & not in line with their past glory. The England team has failed to live up to their hype, and faced a series of painful exits from major tournaments while an ageing Italy side failed to even qualify to 2018 world cup. The revival & turnaround of both sides under their respective managers has been quite remarkable. Gareth Southgate has led England to the World cup semis and now a potential trophy win since England were knocked out by Iceland in euro 2016. Roberto Mancini has turned Italy from 2018 flops to a force to reckon with, knocking out Belgium & Spain on the way. The Azzurri are unbeaten in their last 33 matches in all competitions, which is their longest unbeaten run of matches. On the other hand, England are unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions. We all know for sure that either of these records are going to be broken on Sunday. It is going to be tears of joy for one team while a great debacle for another. Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments and do not forget to tune into the match on Monday 12:30 AM IST for nail biting action.

Speaking of nail-biting action, there is more in store for you, this one from South America.

BRAZIL VS ARGENTINA: COPA AMERICA 2021 FINAL

Rivalries don’t get bigger than this. A stage where the world’s best play. Europe might be waiting for Italy vs England, but the 2021 Copa America final is the true classico. Brazil & Argentina share a century long rivalry and have established themselves as footballing giants, sharing a total of seven world cups between them. This match is more than just crowning the Copa America champions for the 2021 edition, it is to settle old rivalries, vengeance, and to prove themselves as the best. It is an important affair for the Argentines who haven’t won a major tournament since 1993 and for Messi, to win his first ever silverware with Argentina. Things have heated up due to a dispute over the venue of this edition of the tournament. Argentina are a bit salty due to the fact that this edition was to be held in Colombia & Argentina but Brazil took over at the last minute due to unrest in Colombia & rising covid cases in Argentina. This has denied Argentina that slender home advantage which can prove to be of immense value in such tough affairs.

Make sure that you don’t miss this showpiece as it promises to be a thrilling match. It will be held at the Marcana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro with the match kicking off at 5:30 AM Sunday IST.
