Quote Of The Day
This quote, metaphorically of course, tells us that all the noble people don't seek for fame or popularity themselves. You generally find such people in the darkest of the places lending enlightenment. It is their selflessness that gets limelight.
Subhashita
हंस श्वेतो बकः श्वेतः को भेदो बकहंसयोः । नीर क्षीर विवेके तु हंसो हंसो बको बकः ॥
Explanation
A swan is white in colour, even a crane is white in colour. This doesn’t mean they are the same. Although they have some common attributes, both also have unique qualities of their own. Likewise every human being has qualities, similar and different to othersAuthors: Atharva Godbole and Shubham Dharmadhikari

ON WILD
ANIMALS AND THEIR LIBERTY
In a tranquil neighbourhood in Brakpan, South Africa, there dwell
in the abode of one Michael Jamison,
along with other animals, two healthy and well-fed tigers named Enzo and Diego. They have to themselves
a capacious enclosure (and therefore
much space to walk around and even chase one another) and a swimming pool. Michael regularly posts videos
showing their lives, and of his
countless other animals.
A happy life, one would discern, but a few partisans of ‘animal
liberty’, so to say, would deem this
unacceptable, for to them these tigers ought to be denizens of the wild and must not be so kept.
However, neither of these was born in
the wild. They were born amongst humans, and Michael’s friends presented them to him, for they trusted his ability to
take care of them. And take care he did.
The tigers eat everyday (as opposed to the infrequency of the meals of an average tiger in the wild), are fed a variety
of protein-rich food, and he gives them
milk and whipped cream on occasion, both of which much enthuse and
gladden the tigers.
Would tigers born amongst humans, accustomed to not hunting but
to eating every day, survive for long in
the wild? Perhaps, for we must not minify
their ability to adapt, but perhaps not, for not all of them could adapt
with ease. Who is willing to release
them and potentially leave them to ill fate?
Michael is not in complete control of the tigers themselves, in
control of their feeding and the
separation of their enclosure from the rest of the house though he is. They are quite friendly and
greet him every morning when he
commences his errands while passing them and imitating their chuffs.
That they lead lives of contentment
cannot be gainsaid. Would one yet maintain that it is improper of Michael to keep them?
It is thus perfectly acceptable to have them live amongst humans,
so long as their enclosure is capacious,
and so long as they are well-fed, left mostly to themselves, and not made to perform
entertaining tricks. Their unpredictable
schedules (for lack of a better word) must be respected. However, such
tigers (and other wild
animals) as were
born in the wild had better stayed in the
wild. No reason could justify
dispossessing them of their home.

Naadam Festival, Mongolia
Date: 11th to 15th July
Drinking, gossiping, and dancing aren't usually a core component of a sporting festival. But in Mongolia, the Naadam Festival or 'Manly Games' – testing the country's greatest wrestling, archery, and horse racing champions – would not be the same without a tipple or two. Naadam roughly translates as the ‘Manly Games’ and focuses on three key disciplines in Mongolian life – wrestling, archery and horse racing. Each sport is fiercely contested, and participants are expected to compete in traditional dress. This is no simple sporting event. Of course, there are countless other impromptu celebrations during Naadam, usually centered around food and drink, and involving the thousands of nomadic people who flock to ‘civilization’ to party and let their hair down. Party staples include khuushuur, deep-fried dumplings that are perfect for lining your stomach, and airag, fermented mare’s milk. A cavalcade of parades and dances – and drinking – surround each contest. The multi-day festival is held in July every year and can be experienced in every region of Mongolia. The largest gathering is in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, but the events in the countryside are just as lively and colorful and a lot more intimate.

EURO 2020 QUATERFINALS REVIEW
SPAIN BEATS SWITZERLAND 3-1 ON PENALTIES IN TENSE CLASH
Three-time European
Champions Spain became the first team to book their place in the semifinals
after a tense and narrow victory over the Swiss. The Spanish were off to a
flying start after Denis Zakaria deflected the ball into the back of his own
net and handed Spain the lead in the 8th minute. The Swiss were
without their captain Granit Xhaka who faced suspension after picking up a
yellow card for the second time consecutively against France. Spain held most
of the possession but Switzerland was dangerous on the counter. A few chances
came and went for both sides, but to their dismay, were not able to make those
chances count. Switzerland kept pushing with intent and were the more dangerous
side in the game despite having nothing to show for at the end of the first
half.
Halfway into the second
half, Switzerland found the equalizing goal they wanted from their captain
Xherdan Shaqiri who converted from a defensive error from the Spanish defence. Just
8 minutes after restoring parity, Switzerland went a man down as Remo Freuler
was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Spanish forward Gerard Moreno. However,
the Swiss still managed to hold on to the draw and take the game to extra time.
Spain got hold of most chances in extra time, but both sides failed to score,
thanks to great goalkeeping from Yann Sommer.
The semi final spot was
now up for grabs in the penalty shootout. Spain kept their cool and won the
shootout 3-1 as Mikel Oyarzabal scored the last penalty to seal the victory for
Spain. The defeat was tough for Switzerland, especially for their keeper Yann
Sommer who made crucial saves to keep the game in their reach. Spain were now going
to face the winners of the quarterfinal showdown in Munich featuring Italy and
Belgium.
INTERESTING FACT
Denis Zakaria’s own
goal is the tenth we have seen at Euro 2020 which is now one more than own goals
at each of the previous 15 editions of the Euros COMBINED.
ITALY BEAT BELGIUM 2-1 IN THRILLING HEAVYWEIGHT CLASH
Italy managed to break the deadlock 30 minutes into the
game as Barella slotted the ball past Courtois. Just 14 minutes after the
first, Italy doubled their lead thanks to a beautiful curling goal from Lorenzo
Insigne. Belgium managed to get back into the game after Romelu Lukaku
converted from a penalty in the first half stoppage time. Both teams had
chances of their own to score, but Italy held onto the lead to win to extend
their unbeaten record to 32 games. This Italy side can do almost everything that
is expected from serial winners: they can thrash opponents, score seamlessly
and most importantly deliver where it matters most against the best of the
world. They now face Spain in the semifinals tonight.
