Quote Of The Day

Short life with huge respect is much better than a normal long life without respect

~Anonymous

Try to live that kind of life which gives you huge respect and popularity. So that people will remember you even after your death. We have to think, what kind of life we want to live. So that we can live a life in the memories of people even in the afterlife.

अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम् ।

उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् ।।

Explanation:

Narrow minded people without a clear outlook tend to think they themselves and their near and dear ones are unrelated to the rest of the world but for the broadminded, the entire world is like their own family.

Historical Significance of the Day

10th October,
1906, 10th October also happens to be the birth anniversary of the great Indian writer R.K. Narayan. He is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He is best known for creating the fictional town of Malgudi. His writings had an element of humor and were closely associated to the common man.

1992, the Vidyasagar Setu in the West Bengal State of India is opened for use. It is the first and the longest cable- supported bridge (two towers are connected to the bridge via cables) in India. It joins the largest and second largest cities in West Bengal Kolkata and Howrah respectively. The bridge is built upon the Hooghly River and therefore is also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge. It is the second bridge across that river after the Howrah Bridge.

Puzzler

Meera's father has setup the following puzzle puzzle for her.

There are three closed boxes with a note written on each of them. Only one of them contains Candy.
The following boxes have the following notes:
Yellow box - "This Box has the candy"
Blue box - "The yellow box does not have the candy"
Green box - "This box does not have the candy"

Her father then tells her that she can open only 1 box, if it has the candy, she gets to keep it! At last he tells her that only 1 of the notes tells the truth and the rest are false. Which box contains the candy?

An Exclusive Interview of the very popular Prof. Kaustubh Atre Sir, speaking on different aspects of his life, how he started the Ambitions Commerce classes and much more.

This is an interview of Prof. Kaustubh Atre, founder, Ambitions Commerce Classes, Pune, conducted by Aditya Jogalekar on 8th October 2021.

1] Interviewer: Sir, please tell us about your degrees and your college.

Kaustubh sir: I have graduated from BMCC (Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, Pune) and my degrees in the field of commerce include M.Com., M.A. and LL B.

2] Interviewer: Can you describe your family background in the field of Commerce?

Kaustubh sir: No one in my family was in the field of commerce, but my parents always supported me in every way and I attribute my success to my parents & my wife because they helped me become what I am. Plus I am the only entrepreneur in my family.

3] Interviewer: From where did you take off before starting Ambitions (as in before getting somewhere we have to get  previous experience, so what was that like)

Kaustubh Sir: I was a teacher in Purandare Classes, I was nineteen years old at the time I started teaching and was a teacher there for 10 years. I realised that to bring my ideas to reality, I should have my own platform which will give me freedom in aspects such as communication, methodology of teaching, carrying out extra-curricular activities etc.

4] Interviewer: Who was your mentor in starting ‘Ambitions’?

Kaustubh sir: I think my mentor whom I give the credit of my success to, would be my teacher Prof. Madhav Ganpule. I used to go to him for C.S. [Exam of Company Secretary]. One day he came to know that I conduct 14 batches per week at Purandare Classes. I think he saw a spark in me. I personally think that he noticed my Student-Centered way of teaching and then he pushed me to start my own institute and I am incredibly grateful to him for that.

5] interviewer: Tuitions /Classes – an incredibly renowned industry, what Is it like being a part of it? (Any advantages or shortcomings you would like to name)

Kaustubh Sir: I agree that it is an Industry but Ambitions means a whole lot more than that, anyway to answer your question, yes there are some advantages and shortcomings. I personally think the biggest advantage is that we are constantly in touch with youngsters. Their energy makes us work for them. As teachers, we can work on our own ideas. In Ambitions, every opinion and suggestion from the faculty is accepted and thought over as a team. And I think the biggest shortcoming is that we are considered secondary to colleges. We are always considered one step below the colleges even if we provide facilities and quality teaching to students which is rare in colleges nowadays.

6] Interviewer: Where do you see Ambitions in the next 5 years?

Kaustubh Sir: There is no substitute to Classroom teaching however I am impressed with benefits of online teaching as it has removed geographical barriers and therefore, I think that Ambitions will reach many major cities as well as villages and opt for Hybrid Teaching Pattern, i.e., both online and offline teaching together.

7] Interviewer: What has ‘Ambitions’ given to you as a person? Has it affected your personality? And where do you see yourself if it hadn’t been for Ambitions?

Kaustubh Sir: I was an introvert in college till my F.Y.B.Com. but as I progressed through college and started teaching young aspiring students, I gained confidence and optimism in my life. Without ambitions I think I would have pursued a normal job.

8] Interviewer: Can you recall the Ups and Downs in your Life

Kaustubh Sir: When I was admitted in std 11th in BMCC it was an English medium College and I had been a student of 100% Marathi Medium school (Ramanbaug). This trait affected my introvertness to a great level. And I think my biggest achievement is being able to have met so many students in my life. They write me beautiful letters and those are like certificates & awards to me!!!!

9] Interviewer: We, the 11th standard students, have experienced your communication skills even in online teaching. How did you manage that?

Kaustubh Sir: I was actually nervous about my first ever online lecture. But I coped up well with online teaching and the biggest reason is being ‘choiceless’. Me and all the teachers at Ambitions knew that we had to be ready to teach online and I am proud of my team that they pulled off this challenge.

10] Interviewer: Your personal opinion about Science and Arts stream

Kaustubh Sir: I think Science is a stream of ‘Why attitude’ and ‘thinking of cause and consequence relationship’, and Arts is the stream for making our life creative. May you choose any stream but hard work is the undeniable fact.

11] Interviewer: Word of Advice for Students

Kaustubh Sir: I would just say to my young friends that keep on working towards your dreams and one day they will come true. If I could do it, anybody would do it.

12] Interviewer: Parents have a mindset that being a doctor or an engineer is superior to anything else and pressurize the children to take up science. What is your stand about that?

Kaustubh Sir: In my case, my parents supported me about my decision to take Commerce and I would also keep an open mind about letting my kids decide their careers, because every student is unique with a different potential.

Team youTHink would like to thank Prof. Kaustubh Atre sir for giving his valuable time for conducting this interview and providing the much needed guidance for the young students.

FOOTBALL

BALLON D’OR 2021 NOMINEES: LIONL MESSI PEGGED TO WIN 7TH BALLON D’OR AHEAD OF THE LIKES OF ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI, CRISTIANO RONALDO, NGOLO KANTE & JORGINHO

The Ballon D’or is an annual individual football award, given out by France football. It was generally regarded as European footballer of the year award prior to the 2010s, before its merger with FIFA’s World Player of the Year to create the FIFA Ballon D’or, increasing its recognition worldwide. Winning the Ballon D’or is the greatest honor in football-perhaps like winning the Oscars. Let’s take a look at this year’s favorites to lift the Ballon D’or:

1) LIONEL MESSI

Lionel Messi is the record winner of the Ballon D’or; a whopping 6 times. The Argentine is no stranger to the award, without doubt, however, despite a lack luster season at the club football with Barcelona, Messi managed to end his wait for an international trophy with Argentina. He had previously come closest at the 2014 World Cup, after narrowly missing out in the final against Germany.  After lifting the 2021 Copa America, Messi is one of the favorites to win football’s highest honor for a record 7th time.

2) ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI

Robert Lewandowski is cementing his spot as one of the greatest footballers after winning the 2021 European Golden Shoe. The Pole was the prime contender for winning the Ballon D’or in 2020 after guiding Bayern Munich to a 6th Champions League trophy, but fate had other plans as the Ballon D’or 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic. However, his hopes for a Ballon D’or are still alive due to his stupendous feats in the Bundesliga, winning the golden shoe & performing consistently throughout the season. Many analysts have lauded his individual performance throughout the season despite missing out on the Champions league & the Euros.

3) NGOLO KANTE & JORGINHO

The two midfielders helped Chelsea this season to a second UCL win and have shown exemplary individual performance throughout the season. The latter of the two also guided Italy to the Euros victory to top it all off. They were at the forefront of Chelsea’s stellar turnaround under Thomas Tuchel.

SUMMARY:

Besides these 5 favorites to lift the Ballon D’or 2021, there are a few more prominent contenders on the list including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Kevin de Bruyne, Messi’s PSG teammates- Neymar & Mbappe, Raheem Sterling & Mohamed Salah.

Kante has guided Chelsea all the way to the UCL trophy while, Jorginho has done so with a Euros victory with Italy. However, the sheer brilliance of Lionel Messi at the Copa & Lewandowski’s record-breaking season make them my favorites to lift the Ballon D’or. More on the Ballon D’or after 29th November- when the results come out
