Our life gives us fresh second, and with that every fresh second, we get a new chance. A chance to redeem ourselves, a chance to seize and make the most of every opportunity. What happens in the past is history, and what will happen in future is a mystery. But what we have with us in the moment is a special gift, that's why it's called the present. So here's to the fresh beginnings and a happy start.

Enjoy the upcoming exciting month of Shraavana

सुखस्यानंतरम दुःखं दुःखस्यानंतरम् सुखम् ।

न नित्यं लभते दुःखं न नित्यम् लभते सुखम् ॥

Explanation

Happiness is followed by sorrow and despair is followed by prosperity. Thus one can never get prosperity or unhappiness permanently. Hence we should not think that once happy we will never get despair. Also, when in darkness we should be hopeful that light is on our way....

DASHAVATARA SERIES

Episode 1: The Story of the Fish

मतस्याय मनुकल्पाय नम:

This is the story of the great first incarnation of Lord Vishnu, in the form of a fish, Lord Matsya. The legend goes back to the time, when Lord Brahma the Great Creator of the holy trinity, went to sleep while reciting the sacred text, the Vedas. During the time, a demon Hayagriva ("horse-necked") steals the Vedas, which escape from the yawn of a sleepy Brahma. Vishnu discovers the theft. He descends to earth in the form of a little saphari fish, or the Matsya avatar. One day, the king of Dravida country (South India) named Satyavrata cups water in his hand for libation in the Kritamala river. There he finds a little fish. The fish asks him to save him from predators and let him grow. Satyavrata is filled with compassion for the little fish. He puts the fish in a pot, from there to a well, then a tank, and when it outgrows the tank, he transfers the fish finally to sea. The fish rapidly outgrows the sea. Satyavrata asks the supernatural fish to reveal its true identity, but soon realizes it to be Vishnu. Matsya-Vishnu informs the king of the impending flood coming in seven days. The king is asked to collect every species of animal, plant and seeds as well as the seven sages in a boat. The fish asks the king to tie the boat to his horn with the help of the Vasuki serpent. The deluge comes. While carrying them to safety, the fish avatar teaches the highest knowledge to the sages and Satyavrata to prepare them for the next cycle of existence. The Bhagavata Purana states that this knowledge was compiled as a Purana, interpreted as an allusion to the Matsya Purana. After the deluge, Matsya slays the demon and rescues the Vedas, restoring them to Brahma, who has woken from his sleep to restart creation afresh. Satyavrata becomes Vaivasvata Manu and is installed as the Manu.

Thus, Lord Vishnu fulfilled His Promise, to Prithvi, the Earth Goddess.

Raksha Bandhan

The day of full moon,

In the auspicious month of Shravan,

My eyes locked on the arrival of my brother.

Because it’s Raksha Bandhan!

It's an emotion than a festival.

It’s about sustaining a bond so vital.

It’s even about family time.

It’s every brother-sister bond’s tagline.

Raksha Bandhan is an event,

To express your gratitude

For every person securing you.

For supporting you in your choices.

It’s a significant festival Afterall,

Brimming with rejoices.
